Xunantunich Maya site and Inland Blue Hole
This tour begins with a 3 hours drive from Placencia or 2 hours from Hopkins on the famous “Hummingbird Highway,” one of the most scenic drive in central america, a bit of a drive but a great way to see the country side.
Arriving at the village of Succotz, we’ll cross the Mopan River by means of a hand-cranked ferry. From here we take a short drive to the site. Upon arrival a knowledgeable site guide will walk you through the site while giving you a thorough history about the political, social and trading of the ancient Maya people. The highlight of the trip is climbing the 140 feet high “El Castillo” building to experience a 360 degree view over the rainforest treetops of Western Belize and Guatemala.
After a delicious lunch, we will start our trip back to placencia. After a 45 minutes drive we will stop at the Blue Hole National Park on the hummingbird highway to take a dip in the natural sinkhole in the middle of the rainforest.

What our Guests are Saying
Just Book it and thank me later!
Our guide Jose was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and a skilled van driver. Xunantunich surpasses description. Lunch in San Ignacio was delectable, and the inland blue home was lovely too.
Great Guide! Worth the drive!
We wanted to send our thanks for a wonderful experience touring Xunantunich and going to the serene Inland Blue Hole! We had a very knowledgeable tour guide around the ruins and greatly enjoyed the drive with Jose. He was very informative, kind, and open to letting us make additional stops along the drive to see specific locations that greatly enhanced our experience and allowed us to learn more about Belize and its history and culture. We truly had a memorable trip, and much of that was thanks to Jose. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to truly experience the beauty and richness Belize has to offer.
