Howler Monkey Sanctuary

The Black Howler Monkey Sanctuary is located 35 miles northwest of Belize City. Our locals would refer to them as ‘baboon’ in the Creole dialect. The goal of the sanctuary is to sustain the habitat of the black howler monkey, and to give a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the rainforest and witness black howler monkeys in the wild. Conservation effort bring together as much as 8 villages to protect and promote the monkey’s population and their habitat. Upon arrival at the sanctuary, you will gear up for a 30minutes hike where you will get to see the monkeys in their natural habitat, roaming around in the wild, get to feed one! They are very friendly.
