Belize Maya Cultural Tour
This Cultural tour allows participants to learn more about the direct descendants of the ancient maya people of Belize who built majestic maya sites and left behind rich history, traditions and beliefs.
Participants will travel one hour to a traditional Maya village in southern Belize called Red Bank village to meet the ketchi maya and the mopan maya people of Belize. Participants will learn about Maya life, including making medicinal compounds from plants found in the jungle, food, musical instruments and textiles.
Participants will be taught how to prepare a traditional Maya meal, including grinding corn for making tortillas on a grinding stone. They will also have an opportunity to make corn tortilla from scratch. A full lunch of traditional Maya food will be served, including hot chocolate made from cacao beans grown in the village of red bank.

We visited the cals and tec family and thought they were both great. Fascinating to see and hear about the traditional maya way of life. We also had the opportunity to make tortillas and chocolate on an ancient grinding stone. Highly recommend this tour to get a taste of the maya culture.
