Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary Tour

This tour starts with an hour scenic drive from placencia village or 30 minutes drive from Hopkins to the only jaguar reserve in the world and home to the five species of wild cat the jaguars, pumas, ocelot, jaguarundi and margay. Discover hidden gems of Belize at Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, with hundreds of species of indigenous plants and animals thriving in the Cockscomb Basin, it allow you to see exotic plants, amphibians, reptiles, colorful birds, insect and natural waterfalls pool, or hike to one of the view point for a panoramic view of Cockscomb Basin and Victoria Peak. There are many hiking trails to choose from with different terrain and vegetation. The first part of this tour is a natural history hike where the tour guide will teach you about all of the flora and fauna of the area. After a delicious provided lunch comes the optional second half of the tour. Grab an inner tube and hike for about 10 minutes to the South Stann Creek River where you will float for approximately one hour. Upon exiting the river you will take another hike to a beautiful waterfall where you can swim to your heart’s content.
