Mayflower Bocawina Antelope Waterfall Hike

This adventure start with a 30-minutes scenic drive from Hopkins or an hour and 20 minutes drive from Placencia. The best hike in Southern Belize is Antelope Falls. The 45 minutes, challenging hike will have you huffing, puffing, and scrambling up rocks and roots but the pay-off is worth every ounce of sweat. Not one, but two big rewards await your efforts at the top of the climb. A spectacular view point, nearly 1000 feet above the rainforest floor, you stand at the top of a waterfall and look out over the jungle all the way to the Carribean Sea. Another minute or two of hiking brings you to a natural, cool, fresh water pool- your second prize. Enjoy a refreshing swim, unpack your picnic, and relax around the peaceful emerald pond listening to the sounds of nature. If you’re still feeling more adventurous then zen-filled, dare yourself to leap from a stone outcrop in to the deep pool or allow yourself a complimentary pedicure from the tiny fish that reside in this water.

- This hike is strenuous but benches for resting are situated along the way. We have had little hikers of age 5 who handled it, though there are spots where they need assistance especially on the way back down.

Beautiful Anthelope Falls
Hiked the falls recently, family of four ages 14 to 56.. Strenuous climb but worth every minute. Would not recommend to anyone not fit or afraid of heights. Magnificent views from the top and a refreshing swim in a pool that the falls cascade into keep you cool for the trek down. Wear good hiking shoes or Keenes which you can wear getting into the water .
Not an easy hike but worth it
The hike up to Antelope Falls is not an easy hike but once you get up there to the top it is a spectacular view. Make sure and wear a bathsuit/swim trunks under your hiking clothes. And wear good hiking shoes. We went on a guided hike and when we got to the top we cooled off in a refreshing pool of water that was being fed by a small waterfall.
Beautiful Park
We really enjoyed the visit & the beautiful waterfall in the jungle. Saw many birds & interesting plants. Wear good shoes, suntan lotion & definitely apply BUG spray.
Best Excursion from Hopkins
My wife, 18 year-old daughter and I were in Belize for a week and took four excursions. This was definitely the family favorite! It was not at all what we were expecting. A good pair of hiking boots is a must because the trail gets difficult near the top. You have to hold onto a rope on parts of it and it gets really steep. We ended at a waterfall near the top, where we all went for a swim. Raul took good care of us and was really knowledgeable about the area. My wife even had the guts to eat termites! This trip was a total blast and definitely the best time we had in Belize!
